When a hen comes into sexual maturity, her liver restructures and stores fat for egg yolks. This is fine when the hen was laying 50 or so eggs per year. But the industry has made them super layers, hence liver damage. 99% of the liver hemorrhage cases are hens, it is 4 times more prevalent in white laying egg hens, and over 80% of the time heat stress is involved.
