The roosts need to be higher than the nest boxes, since they tenheightd to go to the highest point to roost. Then add a slant to the top of your nest boxes with cardboard or wood, to prevent them from nesting on top. I use a fan pointed out a window to draw air into my coop.
I have a full size box fan aimed out of the coop to draw in cooler air as well. .. the nest boxes were built with a slant to the top but it is at the same height as the roosts. The top of the nest boxes are at the base of the window so I don't want to block that. I suppose I could build a chicken wire block over the nest boxes to keep them off of it but they'll probably still bunch up on the roosts. It's crazy. Don't they know that bunching makes them hotter than they could be if they separated just a little. ..
