Hello everybody!
A few days ago, one of my white silkie hens passed away....
But what startled me most was that nothing appeared to be wrong with her before her death. I was sitting out on the deck (and my flock was playing in the compost ben) when I heard squaking. I looked up to see what was wrong, and, next thing I know, she was rolling on the ground. By time I got over to help, she was dead.
She had been showing no signs of sickness before, and, even though I looked closely under her feathers, there were no wounds and I saw no blood.
My only theory is that she fell off the compost ben, but it isn't very high off the ground- and I dont think she was that fragile.
What could have gone wrong?
Please write back!
