Hi all,

I know this is probably in the wrong place, but I have no idea where would be the right place :)

We've had to do a chicken dissection for uni and we're in the middle of the write-up (fun times, eh?). Not the best
practical when you have lots of chickens at home but still............

We was wondering if anyone knew anything special about the chickens liver, and why its split into
two lobes etc.

If you know anything else that we might be able to use then please post :D

Thanks

I have never read any discussions concerning why livers in some organisms are lobed. With some it may provide great flexibility of the visceral volume for physical activity or when meal size distends fther components of the viscera.

The lobed design may facilitate its attachment to the body. One mounting point in the center would allow it to move about as needed.

There are other guesses out there for sure.
