Chicken door in the floor?

Does anyone have a coop design where the run is accessed through the FLOOR? Are the chickens willing to go "down" a short distance to the run, rather than "through" a door?

I am asking because I want to build a run that accessed through the floor of the coop - underneath an existing structure that is built on a slope.

we are looking at the same thing for our temp coop, my husband is building a HUGE coop, but in the mean time i would love to do the same thing so our chickens are able to wonder without being in the same area as the dog, I cant wait to see what advice you get!!
