Chicken eating chicks as they hatch!

Help! Our broody hen, golden comet, ate the first chick after it hatched! She tried to eat the others and did eat all of the eggs after the hatching! She is still sitting on 11 so we brought the entire nesting box with hen and eggs and chicks in the house! Why would she do this?

Sounds like a first time mommy!
I had a marans hen that killed the first three chicks that hatched her first time being broody. Only the LAST chick survived. She just did not understand what was going on. She has been broody two more time since and has never killed another chick.

None of my other first time broodies were psycho like the one marans hen. It just happens sometimes. It doesn't mean that she will always do it
