chicken eating the cats food is that baddddddddddddddddd

My DH and I forgot to close the coop door last night...all the chickens were out waiting to be fed EARLY this morning. I was right by the bag of cat food by the back door, so I grabbed a scoop and scattered some about for them. They turned there noses at it! Out of 70 loose, cold, hungry chickens...only 2 young ones were eating it! It's not fancy food (Purina Cat Chow), but after everything I've read about chickens loving cat food...I was really surprised. I left them with it for an hour before feeding them their normal feed...it was still there!

Mine wouldn't touch the cat food until I added water then they loved it, I only gave it to them when the one was molting because I didn't know how much was good for them.
