Hello! I’ve been trying to look for a good post on the embryology of the chicken and I can’t find any, I kind of want to make an article about it because it’s really interesting, especially the fact that people can see pictures of what’s actually happening in the egg. Thoughts?

Yes I have! But I was wondering how unethical it would be to open the eggs and take pictures? It’s probably not the best idea but it would definitely be educational!
Yes I agree it would definitely be educational. Maybe you can crowdsource here on BYC and ask for pictures from people who opened up a "quitter" egg and ask for the day of development?

If you're worried about the ethics of incubating with the intention of opening up the eggs at various stages, asking others for their photos might be a good alternative.

I would read that article!

Kind of weird but there is an episode of Mystery Science Theater where the movie starts with a clip about hatcheries and it says “through the use of technology we can see the development inside the egg” or something similar and it’s obvious they’re just opening the egg at various stages of development. The movie is about a guy with a facial deformity who strangles people if that helps lol.

Pretty dang helpful, BLC! 🤣

I got a chuckle, at least.

Do you think this one is lacking something and you can do better?

You would learn from it in any case, but you might prefer to invest your effort on something that's not been done already. Aristotle performed this exercise and described what he saw in the 4th century BC. His description is not at all bad, especially given there were no optical lenses then.
