chicken entertainment

A picnic table (or old, cheap, easy to hose off, plastic card table) can offer them 'king/queen of the hill' games or a place to get out of the sun or rain or even a way to cover a feeding station for them.
Shucked raw corn on the cob is a huge favorite toy/treat for my flock, but be advised that this is like feeding chickens cotton candy, it has NO nutritional value to speak of, so use sparingly.
A head of lettuce or broccoli, the darker green it is, the healthier it is (but still reduces their overall protein), use sparingly.
A few rocks/blocks in the run that you can flip over weekly will offer hours of insect foraging for your birds, highly entertaining for you and them, with the added benefit of free and healthy protein.

I stuck some large rocks in the run. They are always jumping up on them like king of the world. Planted some juniper bushes, beauty berry, blueberry, and a butterfly bush.
I made cages to go around them till they grow some and get established. I put large stones at the base so they can't dig up the roots as well.

In spring I fence off a section and plant it with a food plot mix. They love it when I pull the chicken wire down.
