1) What type of bird , age and weight. RIR pullet (25-26 wks)
2) What is the behavior, exactly. Drooping wing for about a week. Was active but tripping on it. Then both wings about three days ago. Saturday was barely moving. Now it flips over unless I steady it first.
3) Is there any bleeding, injury, broken bones or other sign of trauma. None that I can see.
4) What happened, if anything that you know of, that may have caused the situation. We have had lots of rain and I opened up a round bale of plain straw.
5) What has the bird been eating and drinking, if at all. Oatmeal anbd scrambled egg since quarantine (Sat) before that layer pellets, starter/grower and scartch.
6) How does the poop look? Normal? Bloody? Runny? Completely normal.
7) What has been the treatment you have administered so far? quarantined Saturday. Sulmet Saturday night and Sunday. This morning did Epsom flush... Electrolytes and probiotics by mouth every hour or so since then... 15 CCs
8 ) What is your intent as far as treatment? For example, do you want to treat completely yourself, or do you need help in stabilizing the bird til you can get to a vet? Treat myself or cull.
9) If you have a picture of the wound or condition, please post it. It may help. I will take a pic of her in a bit.
10) Describe the housing/bedding in use. Cooped at night...Huge run during the day with other feathered folk.
Thought initially was cocci, since it is damp around here recently. Took all hay and litter out of run and coop on Saturday. Coop leaks a little during rainstorms. Trying to dry everything out. There is some light green mold on the coop ceiling near a beam, but will disinfect that out.... Today considered botulism a maybe, someone has warned me about moldy hay/straw. She is eating well considering all she's been through. Seems alert and grumbles when she sees me.....just has no balance. Would like to know about Marek's. Most of my chickens have been sneezing off and on for about a month since we went from about 105 degrees to 70s overnight. No CRD..... everyone doing well and robust.
