So for a little background...I have 2 boys, 4yrs and 20 months. We just got a chocolate lab puppy on the 23rd of Dec and she's 8 weeks old. We have 17 adult chickens. So this afternoon I was cleaning the house. I left the back door open (which is like french doors that open into the living room). I left it open because the boys were playing on the back patio and so the puppy can go outside to go potty when she needs to. Well the boys walked in the house and Dylan closed the door. They were saying something to me and mid sentence Dylan (4 yrs) says, "AHHH THERE'S A CHICKEN IN THE HOUSE!!" "Are you serious?" I replied. My brother jumped up and sure enough our Lakevelder had ventured into the house to try and find a nice laying spot:) That was a first for us!

Thats funny, i bring my chickens in the house sometimes, but i usually get told to " go put the birds back out side where chickens belong."

Frack rules the house - She is my only housebroken chicken, having had at most two "accidents" in the last three years.

Year before last she went broody in her special place in the kitchen, her own dog crate, and hatched "Prince Poppycock"

I don't think I trained her - I think she trained me. When she goes to the front door and starts her cackling, I drop everything to let her our!

my husband is going to hate to hear about this!!! I have wanted a house trained silky for ever!!!!!!
