Hi Everyone,

I noticed one of my girls had an eye closed this am. There is no pus and her other eye looks fine. No nasal discharge or anything. She is acting normal. She is eating and drinking fine. Any ideas of what it may be? Thanks!

If her eye is stuck together, use a warm wet cloth to soak the eye and get it open. Look in the eye for any debris or eye bubbles. Pecks, dirt or getting bedding in the eye might be a problem. Make sure that there is good air circulation inside the coop. Ammonia odors can irritate eyes. You can use a dab of plain Neosporin or Terramycin eye ointment in the eye twice a day to see if that helps.

Thank you for your quick reply. I picked her up and was trying to see, but I was scared I would hurt her if I pryed her eye open. Is there something I can use to clean it?
You won't hurt her if you opened her eye.

Mild salt water, or a saline solution.
