Chicken feed price

Manna Pro organic non-gmo. They all have February 2020 expiration date on them. I bought it about 2 mths ago.
I have never seen a bag of chicken feed with an expiration date on it. They only print a mill date on the bag. Perhaps it was a misprint and it was milled in February 2019. Feed just doesn't last that long.
Every bag of feed I've seen from many different manufacturers print the day, month and year it was milled. Sometimes it is on the seal at the end of the bag, on the guaranteed analysis tag or printed as a Julian date.

My local TSC has feed by the ton and they deliver. Check the website and see if it's available in your area. GC 20190603_174023.jpg 20190603_173839.jpg 20190603_173706.jpg

A dozen is what I have now. We are planning to have more next month or later.

Typically an adult bird consumes 1/4lb feed per day, and higher in cold weather. So a flock of 12 should be consuming 90lbs a month or somewhat more. 2000lbs means you have a lot of waste! Even if you meant 200 lbs, that still is a lot of waste for 12 birds. So, you need to think about the way you are feeding them - what type of feeder, what type of feed (pellet/crumble). Are you mixing anything into the feed? If the birds can pick out their favorite bits, they will bill out a lot of feed to get to those bits. Then they scratch the feed into the dirt and it is hard to tell how much waste you actually have. And do you have a rodent problem?? Any holes in the ground?

So, more information will be helpful so we can help you!

Type of feed. Type of feeder. How you feed. Any additions to the feed. Any rodent issues. Type of coop:is it insulated? Is coop elevated or on the ground? Type of floor in coop. Type of run.

Monthly consumption about 2000lb.

I'm not feeding 12 chicken. As I wrote in another reply, we are planning to have 400 or so, 2000lb is just minimum for them.

That makes more sense. It wasn't clear, because it sounded like you were currently going through A LOT of feed. Others on BYC have had excessive "consumption" that turned out to be rodents, wild animals, wild birds, or extreme billing out.

I know. 2000lb will be crazy to 12 chickens. I usually store feed in the basement with same temperature all year round.

Feed is much cheaper by the ton, almost no matter where you buy it.
If you are anywhere near an agricultural area, you surely have a feed mill nearby.
Look harder. Ask area farmers.

Manna Pro states their feed is good for 9 mths.
