Hi all you beautiful chicken lovers, I'm only new in this game so please be patient. I'm the proud owner of 5 beautiful isa brown hens which started laying approx 10 weeks ago.I feed them a good layer pellets & pigeon mix as a scratch mix,which has some corn in it, I also let them out to pick & scratch around in the backyard.My question is how can I improve the color of the yolks? They are very pale yellow. Thanks so much. Vince.

Generally free ranging and feeding upon insects and grasses/weeds helps to darken the yolk color.

If I remember a commercial for a certain brand of chicken, the spokesman said he feeds marigold petals to the hens. Maybe that's the trick.
