    Are their diffent types of chicken feed and how much would 6 laying hens eat a month just need guess at it i guess you would feed more in the winter right

    Depends entirely upon what is available in YOUR area, but here in this part of California, a 50 lb bag of layer feed costs about 13 bucks, and for six birds, it probably would last you a month.

    You'd also be able to feed kitchen scraps to your chickens, instead of throwing it into the garbage or a compost pile!
     
  3. Layer feed is most needed. Throw in some oyster shell and throw all your food scraps to them. Also the birds need to eat grass or greens of some sort. On average I spend about $ 1.50 per laying hen per month on feed needs. I buy my feed a local feed store 13.50 for 50 lbs.
