Chicken Feet for Dinner?

I had never even heard of it until I came here to Georgia to live. Now we only see chickens feet at IGA. I myself have never tried them. I am not saying I wouldn't but I think I would have to find someone who knows how to cook them first.

I have butchered thousands of chickens and never ate feet..

I have given feet to other people, including my youngest brother..
I cannot get over his squeamish wife cooking those things..LOL

sounds like I am missing something good.. Going to butcher in a week or so, think I will try a batch... but I am still going to throw away the heart and liver... I am not squeamish, I just cannot stand the flavor of any heart.. Now, cow's tongue made into stroganoff,,,,,,,,,,YUM,,,,,

Oh man, I LOVE chicken feet. Especially dim sum type chicken feet in the kind of spicy red-brown sauce. <drool>

I have not managed to use the feet off any of the 11 of my own chickens I've processed so far, though

-- just CANNOT get them peeled (I expect I need a longer dip in much *hotter* water) and doing bunches of chickens singlehanded I've always ended up saying the heck with it b/c of too much other stuff to deal with. Next chicken I butcher however I swear I am going to use the feet for stock, at least.

Combs... I've wondered about that, but I think I may not be quiiiiiite ready to try that yet

I had them leave the legs on my last set of birds we had processed for our own consumption. I just couldn't do it, though. But I've seen many a person gnaw on the feet and say it's the best part. Apparently they are crispy and tastey.

We have used the legs from teh chickens, ducks and geese to make stock, thoguh.

Me too! I'm rather grossed out now! LOL

I think I could try the chicken feet if I knew they weren't running thru disgusting stuff & thinking of how dirty their lttle feet get.

I just can't do it yet. Someone would have to trick me into eating their soup & then in a day or 2 tell me it was made of chicken feet.
