Chicken feet to eat?

I hope everyone is peeling them before they go throwing them into their soup

I have many Asian friends that I will go and enjoy Dim Sum with. A few months back we got chickens feet, I tried it but was kind grossed out thinking about what chickens walk in all day long.

Shortly after that I got my own chickens, and then most recently I got Cornish X's.

As you all know Cornish X have HUGE feet! As I watch them grow I keep thinking to my self how they would taste.

Finally two weeks ago I called my friends and said we MUST go to Dim Sum and have Chicken Feet!

Oh wow,.. did we eat feet! They were so delicious with the ginger and soy!

Its wierd how my attitude changed after I was able to see the chicken with the feet attached... Strange.

Anyway a picture from Dim Sum,.. Great Times!

UMMM Chicken Feet! My mouth is watering just thinking about them. I am from Puerto Rico, so we eat them all the time, fried (crunchy) or in stews (chewy). I think in places that developed with different cultures, down here it was africans, tainos, and spaniards, a lot of unconventional cooking was developed. Also in places where they had slaves, cooking with uncommon parts had to be done. The "good" meat was for the people of the house, and the slaves got the rest and used it. We eat pigs feet throw in with the red beans, delicious. And everybody knows about our famous morcillas, or blood pudding (intestine casing filled with blood and rice) longaniza (intestine casing filled with meat pieces). We also eat intestine, cuajito (pig's intestine), bofe (lungs), mondongo (intestine), picalonga (fried random parts) panza, grilled kidney, my dad loves fried gizzards (molleja), gandinga (cow's or pig's heart, liver, lungs). Pretty much anything is edible, you just need the right recipe and an open mind.

I used to live in china and I have eaten practically everything that they had to throw at me:

Stinky toufu, Snails, dog, silkworm, ox penis, sheeps balls, poison snake rice liquor, snake , snake gonads, bile, umpteen different weird ocean dwellers, sparrows, pigeons, eels, mud skipper, preserved eggs, thousand year old eggs. Heck, last year I almost ordered braised deer lips at one restaurant in Beijing(grandfathers GF protested)

When we would go out to Beijing duck we would try to weird out our friends with an all duck themed meal, Beijing duck(blown up with bicycle pump and roasted) duck hearts, duck livers, a plate of duck tongues, and plates of ducks feet. Some of this stuff I truely love and crave from time to time.

However, I just do not go for chickens feet. Ive eaten them stewed braised roasted etc. There was one time when I had some that were almost made into jerky and they were pretty good. Otherwise I say they are just annoying. One of those Chinese foods that is way more trouble than its worth. Chuck em I say. Get yourself some dog meat dumplings.

They also serve duck feet at Dim Sum. Not sure if it's made with the same sauces and spices though.

Everyone should have Dim Sum at least once in their life. Even if they don't want the chicken feet

I made chicken soup with chicken feet and thighs and drumsticks one time and it was the best chicken soup I've ever made. I think the feet made a real difference in the flavour of the stock. I tried eating one...it tasted ok, but was not worth picking around the bones.
I didn't peel the skin off, I just washed the feet well with hot water first then cut off the toe nails then threw them in the pot. (Any advice on peeling them would be great.)
I would definately make it again, but I wouldn't bother eating the feet.
I usually buy the feet at the market and feed them raw to my dog for a treat.
