Welcome to BYC!

I don't keep feathered footed birds, so I am not sure. But I would imagine you would have to keep them on clean ground at all times. Dry grass, clean coop and run. I don't think there is much you can do if your climate is always wet and they are out in the mud and puddles.

Great to have you aboard and welcome to our flock!

I showed someone my silkies and they said "how do you keep them so clean?!) And my answer is that I just let them in the yard all day so they aren't cooped up in poop, lol.

If it's muddy all the time, you will need to find something to manage the mud. Mud is an unhealthy environment anyway.

You could try using a lot of sand in your run and even in the coop - that should keep them cleaner.

If you have a lot of rain/mud putting a solid roof over your run will keep the birds drier. I know people with silkies and they may get dirty during the day but, later on it seems most of the mess just falls off of them. Maybe because they preen so much.
