Oy! I have a flock of three chickens, all from the same clutch. One is a rooster, two are hens. They had to be separated (had another rooster at the time), so one hen and a rooster went in one side of the building, and one hen and the other rooster went on the other, separated by a chicken wire and aluminum screen wall. They have seen each other their whole lives through the wall. The old rooster died, so I'd like to get the remaining hen in with the rooster and other hen. Problem is---the hens HATE each other. They fight each other through the wall, and usually draw blood on both sides when I try to put them together. Recently, they have ripped a hole in the screen and pecked each other bloody through the hole until I found them. Has anybody ever had two hens that just could not be put together? I have tried introducing them on neutral ground and distracting them with food (didn't work). They get so worked up, you can pick one up and the other one will be hanging from it, not letting go. I'm at wits end.
