Welcome To BYC!I remember seeing someone post a concentrated coop spray for fleas here once and I can’t find the post? Can anyone help? I thought we were good though the winter but I see them... ugh. :/
Yes they are. We rescued a hen last year. Thought they were gone and added her to the flock.. well they weren’t.. I’ve only ever had to treat the one bird. So now my anxiety is high..Welcome To BYC!
Are they sticktight fleas or fleas that have invaded your coop?
You can buy Permethrin Concentrate that will make gallons of spray that you can use to treat housing and the chickens too - is that what you are looking for? You should be able to find it at stores like Tractor Supply.

I am not sure what your talking about since fleas mainly live on the bird. Perhaps your thinking of mites? Regardless, here is a good infographic which describes the difference - http://www.poultrydvm.com/featured-infographic/identifying-common-ectoparasites-of-backyard-poultry, and if it really is fleas your looking to kill, here is info on the different treatments for that too - http://www.poultrydvm.com/condition/fleas

Yes and treat both weekly for a few weeks. To my understanding.. fleas will live in the bedding as well as on the host. Therefore I would need to treat the birds and the coop now that the coop has been exposed to the fleas?

Thank you! Yes I’ve done the dust last year. It’s just so messy. I am using the spray now.![]()
I have tried a lot of different things. I use permethrin. It works. If you have a TSC they carry the permethrin dust, the premixed spray bottles and the concentrate. As the other posters said, you will need to spray weekly for awhile and if there are pests eggs it doesn't kill the eggs. You will need to spray the coop thoroughly every crack and crevice, everywhere weekly. I use the dust in the nest boxes. The bonus is that there is no egg withdrawal period. Good luck...
