"OH MY GOODNESS TILLIE, I MISSED YOU SOO MUCH!" Lumen shouted. "AND I AM GREAT, THANK YOU VERY MUCH CHICKEN WITH THE AWESOME HAIRDO!" ("Wow, she is loud," Eden told her sister.) "OH MY GOODNESS IS THAT A DUCKLING UNDER YOUR FEATHERS?? HE IS THE CUTEST THING EVER! I WISH I HAD CHICKS! I WANT A DUCKLING! WHERE DID YOU GET HIM??" Lumen yelled, spotting the chicks. "My name is Mo," the little duckling said, suddenly brave. "And I hatched him," Juli said, "but Confetti is his mom."

Description: Lumen is brown, Stella is blue, and Astra is black.
Personality: Lumen is extremely loud. She loves all birds and humans and everyone else. Stella is a follower. She loves being with her friend Lumen. Astra is pretty shy and gets along well with Bunty, although she is motherly and likes the chicks.
Favorite Hen/Roo: Oreo, Oreo, Romeo
Chicks (if hen): Not yet!
Other: They were rescued from the same place as Confetti, where chickens were allowed wherever they wanted on two acres, there were too many chickens, and most of them were mixes of the original generation.

Snowy was getting some water while the chicks were still sleeping, but apparently all the ruckus woke them up. Clementine and Olive CHARGED out of the coop and crashed into her. "NEW CHICKENS?" "WHERE"S FOOD?" with bonnie following more slowly. Snowy tucked them all under her wings. "Hush, chicks. Tillie, what's going on?"

"I AM THE NEW CHICKEN!" Lumen shouted. "OH MY GOODNESS MORE CHICKS?! I LOVE CHICKS!" "Lumen, you really need to stop shouting," Astra said from inside the crate. She walked out and the other chickens stared at her in shock. One of her wings was in a bandage and her comb was covered in barely healed-over scars. "Welcome, Astra," Juli filled the awkward silence. "Clementine, Bonnie, Olive, Eeny, Meeny, Miney, Bunty, Hyla, Frosting, Cupcake, and Sprinkles are the chicks. Mo is the duckling. Hobbes, Romeo, and Oreo are the roosters. Spangle and Rosemary Daffodil are the turkeys. Ellie, Pebbles, Lilac, Snowy, Tillie, Leola, and Confetti are the hens. I am Juliette. The irritating raven is Candy, the dog is Ashes, and the Keeper is the Keeper. He has five daughters. The middle three are irritating so watch out for them." Juliette gave this speech to every new chicken who joined the flock.

"I find the triplets quite nice"Candy muttered loudly. He was quite defensive of the triplets because they adopted him one summer and still fed him sweets regularly. He was developing a deep disliking for Lumen due to her voice being much louder than his.

(jeez that's a lot of chicks) Olive piped up, "What happened to her? What's wrong with her comb?" Snowy poked at her. "Don't be rude, Olive. Apologize right now." Clementine pecked at Olive's comb, but Olive shook her off.

"It's okay, I knew someone would ask eventually," Astra said. "The keeper at our old home locks us in the coop every night. He closed the door, but I was a little too slow and my wing got caught in the door. It was stuck there until morning. As for my comb, let's just say that the rooster really didn't like me." Astra turned and the other chickens could see that her back was covered in scars and there was only a trace of feathers. "Your keeper took the last three hens from the old place, and helped us heal. Here we are."

It is! I thought there were only seven, but then I started counting the older ones.

Olive and Clementine, always the explorers, ran up to Astra, asking her about 17 million questions. "DOES YOUR WING HURT? CAN I SEE IT? WHY ARE YOU MISSING FEATHERS? WOW, YOUR OTHER FEATHERS ARE SO PRETTY! WHAT COLOR EGGS DO YOU LAY?" Bonnie was more polite, as usual. She turned to her mother. "May I go talk to the new chickens?" Snowy nodded, and followed a bit more slowly after Bonnie. She waddled over (you know how cochins kinda waddle bc of their feathery legs/feet? just me? ok) to Astra. "Please excuse my chicks, they can be a little.....over excited sometimes."
