Chicken Food?!?!?!

Hi everyone! I was at the feed store yesterday looking at layer feed (my chickens are one grower right now) and I wasn't sure what to get, they had crumbles, pellets and mash. SO, my question is, what do you suggest using!?!

Pellets do have less waste out of all 3. Though with my silkie I can only get the 20% in crumbles and they are pretty good about not kicking it all out of the dish. My brahmas on the other hand would have all the feed scratched out if I didnt have a hanging feeder.

Also, during the winter, I try to feed mash. It takes 1 bird approx. 3 to 4 times longer to consume their daily ration of mash, keeping them occupied.

Pellets are less waste and my chickens wont eat them. I have small birds and like crumble but there is always a bit left that turns to dust almost. I mix it with water and my ducks eat the extra.
