Chicken-friendly trailing plant?

I'm looking for a chicken-friendly (edible?) trailing plant to go in a gutter planter along one wall of our run, about 5' above the ground.

We're in Southern California, so something sun-loving and drought-tolerant would be great.

Nasturtium was my first thought... edible, easy to care for and there's trailing varieties.
