Silly me. I thought that my biggest problem with the chickens was keeping them warm in the winter.

Actually, it's 9:45pm and the sun is still shining and the chickens think it's time to stay outside and play in the sunshine and catch bugs, and I can't go to bed till they do! (They've been putting themselves in the coop around 11:00 at night. Summertime Chicken Farmer Sleep Deprivation is my problem!!!

I think the Fall Equinox will be nice....

Wow! Yeah, I guess that would be a problem at your latitude. If they have a favorite treat, just lure them back whenever you're ready and lock them in.

So the birds stay up until almost midnight, freaky! Are they more tired during the day? Do they drag their sorry behinds in at night, having partied waaaaaayyy too long during the long day?

Chickens at Midnight. So poetic.

Ya gotta love automatic doors in a situation like yours.

The good news is, they're only 8 weeks old still, so the rooster isn't crowing. Next summer it will be interesting to see how much my neighbors love me, when the cock crows at dawn, which during June and July happens around 3:00-4:00AM!!!!!
