Hi. I am wondering what are the dominant and recessive colors, patterns and characteristics when breeding chickens.
Thank you for any answers.
Do you already know how genetics work in general?
If so, these will probably help you:
https://kippenjungle.nl/sellers/page3.html
This has a table of chicken genes, with a few notes about each one
https://kippenjungle.nl/sellers/page2.html
This discusses some of the genes in more depth.

This can model the effects of many of the chicken genes. Change the genes in the dropdown boxes, and the image of the chicken will change accordingly.
If you need to start with the basics of how genetics work, you could try this page:
https://kippenjungle.nl/sellers/page0.html
It has links to some of the things I gave above, but also a discussion of basic genetics and some pages on other genetics-related things.
A book called "Genetics of the Fowl" by F.B. Hutt, published in 1949, contains a large amount of information (later research found that he was wrong about a few things, but large amounts of it is still considered to be correct.)
At the present time, it is available to read for free on the website of Cornell University:
