Chicken going into the coop

I don't know why but my chickens don't go inside by themselves for bedtime. They just come up to the deck and they stay there until I come out to put them in. Is there a way I can make the chickens go in without me coming out?

What time do you usually out them in?

You should wait and see if they’ll go in the coop without your help mine did that last night (sat on the deck late at night) but I just left them there then they eventually went in the coop

When you try it make sure you watch so they'll be safe

Chickens like to go to bed about the time the sun goes down.

Do you usually put them in before or after it gets dark?

They naturally go in at night, just before it gets too dark for them to see.

I have heard, a small light inside the coop, can help reluctant hens go in a coop.

Is the coop tarped over at that time? If they cannot see inside due to lack of light (or ventilation), they will not want to go in.
