I own few chickens in a nice little coup . and I had a chicken named Sarah adorable little thing. she isn't fully grown. and about 13-20 weeks (haven't kept count) . I let my chickens out for the day and watched them for a little bit then went inside to do some dishes. I have my fully grown female and male chickens separate from the little ones in a different coup. and I was st down eating my breakfast when I heard the males go mad . they were cock-a-doo-dool-dooing over and over no stop. i looked out the window to see a cat pounce at something then run away with something in its mouth. and Sarah was gone. I suspected she escaped under the net some how and got caught. I was heart broken . for the next 2 days I went out to their coop repeatedly and kept on checking for Sarah . and I kept on hearing a little sound now and then . but I thought I was so sad that I was going crazy . until exactly 2.5 days after my chick went missing I went out to check one more time after putting all my chickens to bed. and I heard the sound again. so I went mad looking all round the coop . until I was about to go inside accepting the fact that my baby was gone. until I looked back and saw a roosting box that I used to but hay in so they can lay eggs. I thought that there was a bad feeling coming from that box. so I went back in and nudged it . and low and behold a chick noise came out so I lifted it up and there was sarah . alive and well. she was freezing but somehow could walk. I instantly gave my baby some food and attempted to give her water . at first she refused to drink and I got worried. while she was wrapped in a blanket eating I did some research and found out that she should be dead and even if she was alive she shouldn't be walking. then I dug deeper into Google nd found out that she was showing ALOT of signs of being dehydrated every 20 mins I went out and forced her mouth into water (not too much) and left her for 20 mins before doing it again. shes now drinking but she still needs help. all she wants to do is eat. but I cant feed her all in one go or her body will go into shock and she will die. shes slowly getting better . any advice. and does anyone know how shes still alive for being in the freezing cold for 2 nights straight, stuck in mud , in the pitch black night and with no food and water . because everyone else is saying she would die within 1 day of being in those conditions

UPDATE: my baby is doing much better now. shes running around eating and drinking. but I cant pick her up for 2 mins after shes drank her water because she would dribble it out. im confused but its safe to say shes getting better!

Idk how she survived but I’m glad she’s doing better!I wonder if she could benefit from some electrolytes?Does she have any injuries?
she has none! my family are very surprised. poor thing had to listen to her family right outside eating and playing while shes stuck starving in a box :( . listening to foxes and cats every night in fear. I'm giving her the princess treatment rn

I think a good protein boost would be can tuna in water along with electrolytes and scrambled eggs would help.

Happy to hear your girl is back safe and sound.
My little story....
All my coops are in my pole barn.
I had a Black Copper Marans pullet go missing last year. Swore a hawk got her with no sign of feathers or damage. Nothing.
10 days later I'm moving some wood and doors leaning up and I see a big pile of poop. I look left and there's my Raven, laying on freezing cold concrete in her own poop.
My heart sank... but she was alive.
Rushed her to the house, made her a bed to warm up , gave her electrolytes, feed mash, tuna and some corn.
The next morning she's antsy to get out, so I took her out to the flock.
She went broody this year for me and has given me 7 more little BCM's that are 12 weeks old now.

Raven this year with her 2 babies she hatched.

omg that's so sad! I'm glad your baby is fine now and there's a happy ending. I had a BCM that had it head bit of by a cat. I cried so hard as it was my chicken. I think about her today. I have a new BCM and shes doing well. I think she looks ALOT like raven (yes ik they r the same breed). also, your raven and babies r gorgeous . gl for the future with them!
