Hi, so 2 days ago my flock got attacked by an animal when they were outside. One chicken was dead, one was missing, and one chicken is alive but has a big wound on her back. Her name is Patch and her wound got infected and got disgusting maggots. We gave her a bath with saline water and got most of the maggots out. I'm sure there are some still in her though. We have been putting triple antibiotic ointment on her 3 times a day, and flushing out her wound once a day, and she is in our house away from the other chickens. She is drinking, and pooping once a day, but is really weak. Is there anything else we can do for her? She seems pretty out of it. PLEASE help!! Any comments will help!!
Thanks

Can you provide pictures? I'm afraid DobieLover has a very solid point, I'm sorry. :( If there are any other maggots you can see, get them out ASAP and see if there's any chance she'll come around. No matter the severity of her original injury, flystrike could easily kill her. Do you have any nutri-drench or can you provide other electrolytes to her?

I gave her some apple cider vinegar to her in her water. She is drinking it, and i've noticed some maggots that have fallen of of her. She is a little more alert now, I also checked all over her and no sign of any maggots. Very lethargic though, she cannot stand on her own:hmm I'll try to get some pictures.

The ACV was a good call. Give oregano, for immune strength, and garlic powder, to flush her out and help with breathing, in the water. Look in the wound for maggots at least twice a day. You should also provide electrolyte water alongside the ACV water. They can get imbalanced from trying to heal a wound and get listless and less responsive.

Update- Patch made it through the night, she drank some more water. But she won't eat? She hasn't eaten for 3 days. Is this normal after being attacked? She also keeps bobbing her head up and down, like when she is trying to sleep, her head keeps moving, so she can't sleep. Any ideas what this may be?

if she still dosent eat, you may want to force feed her by pressing either side of her mouth, forcing it open and then poring liquid food in.

edit: sorry if im wrong but we tried pouring brandy into a chicken that had was 80% drowned after flying into a swimming pool and she made a full recovery in 24 hours
