Chicken guard problem: open + close

I had a similar problem yesterday with a ‘permanent’ door jam message. I too discovered that the ‘Calibrate’ function (which you must run after clearing the physical fault) only completes successfully and stores the new open and closed positions if the Chickenguard front panel is in place when the calibrate routine is run.
As the OP said, this is because there is a magnetic switch which detects the front display panel.
My original problem was an incorrectly coiled door cord on the motor spindle, making the door travel open when it should have been closing.

I don't understand. What I conclude is that the only thing you did was dismantle it en start it up again (i.e. reset it)?

(yes I know this is an old post ;-)
No trouble, I m still active on BYC.

The actual problem was the thread. It got old , got a bit dirty and wasn’t smooth anymore.
I cut off the worn thread.
Reassembled the chicken-guard, and went through the calibration process again.

After that it worked fine again for a year or two.

Thanks Aart, you where right. I contacted the supplier in Belgium where I bought my chicken guard. They asked what was wrong and asked for pictures.

And promised I could get a discount of 25% if it was really broken.

After sending a picture of the dismantled chicken guard (Cg) they asked me to reinstall it again in the ‘holder’. Because it can not work without replacing it (has to do with magnetic field).

But now my chickens are asleep and I have to disturb them seriously to reinstall the Cg. Its dark here now.

Tomorrow I will post again,

For people in Belgium, France, Germany and the Netherlands; They have a great service at kippendeurtjes.be 👍

Sorry, I was referring to your (first?) post from februari 15 2020.
Was at that time the thread allready the problem?
