chicken had rear end damage

i noticed one of my chickens was bleeding from behind,its rear end.upon closer examination,it looked like its innards were exposed,under the vent.very raw and bloody.i put her out of her misery right away,as she was losing a lot of blood.i wonder what predator got her and if i can set a trap outside of the coop? i have secured their fenced area,as it looked like something might have squezzed in underneath.i am heartbroken,and would appreciate any help.
