My sister in law thought they were dead the first she saw them. It's so cool the way the stretch out. Mine will even flip over to warm the other side.

My hubby thought the same thing the first time he saw them sunbathe! Went into a complete panic well...wasnt too funny for him!

Someone falls in once a year.

Outside days complete with grass baths and weird contortions. Sent these photos to my mother and she immediately called thinking he'd been injured!

I've never seen a chicken swim before! Do they hop in on their own or is it an accidental thing?

Completely accidental. Usually they are spooked and wind up falling in. The good news is they float. Plenty of time to fish them out.

Ironically, the same hen, Daisy, was spooked today and landed in the pool. Fortunately the pool was frozen under the cover and she just walked out.
