chicken has black face

all of a sudden one of my hens face looks black..any ideas

Hm, not sure, was it red before? Depending on the breed it could be that she's going to stop laying soon/has already stopped laying so the red has faded from her face, and underneath it's black.

well..she is a buff orpington so she should continue laying

If she's a buff I have no idea what could be wrong, if you posted a pic other might be able to help.
