My 2 year old isa brown hen has a swollen toe and she a can't move it. It is mostly swollen by the nail. She has really long toes and broke one of her other toes a year ago but it wasn't very bad and it healed on its own but this time it is seeming to bother her more. I don't know how she hurt it but it happened today because she was fine yesterday. Should I try to splint it or something?

Sorry the pictures aren't that good my camera sucks

To me it looks like she has gotten something caught around it and it has cut her circulation, I have had some like this, I was able to cut the string and pull it out and she healed like normal, that looks worse, I would take her to the vet

There are not any good vets for chickens close to where I live. my parents do not like to take chickens to the vet unless it is really serious.
Is there anything I can do for her without taking her to the vet. She is walking on it and it doesn't seem like it is bothering her but she is not bending it when she bends her other toes but I'm not sure if that's because she can't or just because it hurts to do so.
Take her to the vet if possible.

See if you can see anything that may be cutting her circulation, if there is carefully cut it with scissors (the thinner and sharper the better) or get an adult to help. If it is something cutting the circulation she might lose that part of the toe, that's not bad unless it gets infected, try and wash it if you can. If you cannot see anything that may be cutting the circulation though don't try sticking anything in it

I get that, my parents wouldn't take a chicken to the vet if it was dying.
Ps. your not allowed to mention your age on BYC if your a minor. The moderators will edit it for you, but I thought I would let you know so you could edit it yourself. I'm learned that the hard way. 😉
