Wanted to let you know her limp is almost completely gone finally. Biggest challenge was reintegrating her into the flock but it is done now with the help of an article by a woman who overcame the same challenge. She is definitely healing, but I still don't really know what the injury was. Saw another vet who helped a great deal. Amandine Gillet DVM at Avian and Exotic Animal Hospital in San Diego. These people know chickens! She had me use a hospital cage (large dog crate) to restrain my girl so she would rest her leg and foot. There were other chickens being seen there which reassured me a lot. She also told me not to eat her eggs while she was on the anti inflammatory. The vet who prescribed it did not tell me that. I will go to Dr Gillet for any future problems. Hope this information is helpful to others and I am very happy she is healing. I wonder if a tendon was injured because it has taken about 6 weeks.Glad that you did get to see a vet, even with all of the Newcastles fears in California. Hopefully, she just has a sprain. The anti-inflammatory medicine may help. Let us know how she gets along.
I’m sure that’s it too.It might have something to do with the current outbreak of Newcastle Disease in Los Angeles.
Glad you found someone and hope your bird recovers!
