I noticed her crop was big, let it go yesterday because I wasn't totally sure if she just overate or something but I did dose her with monistat to prevent sour crop. Grabbed her this morning, crop was still full, brought her in and she took lots of poops. Saw a small roundworm (short one.) Doing a full deworming with the whole flock tomorrow when the dewormer gets here.
Just looking for tips on how to do it and if I'm taking the right precautions. Since she's not really in huge danger (not acting ill, still energetic, still eating, actually laid an egg yesterday.) Would it be fine to just put her back outside with the flock since it's just safe to assume the whole flock has it anyway?
Another thought is the grass hasn't regrown yet so even if she's dropping eggs, the grass will likely cover the eggs soon and prevent reinfection? I was just considering moving them to a new area too once I deworm them to prevent reinfection - maybe for like six months or so. Should I take some other precaution to kill the eggs maybe? Like dumping boiling water where they hung out?
The only other thing I can think of for prevention after the two dewormings is doing a deep clean on their feeders and waterers/coop.
Thanks for any tips!
