One of our Rhode Island Reds has swollen feet that are not getting better.... it's getting worse! Her toenail is actually falling off. Have no idea what is causing it or how to fix it. Does anybody know what it is, how to fix it and if it's contagious?

I am not sure how yours got injured, but I have a roo that has a toe without a nail. It was damaged when he was a baby, and was bleeding badly. I used some powdered alum to stop the bleeding and then put neosporin on it and he healed just fine...without a nail now, but it doesn't slow him down.

I just re-read your post ans saw that she also has swollen feet.. I hope someone can help you with that.

I have a few that have swollen toes and no nail, the previous owner said that the nails were lost to frostbite. Can you post a picture? That might help out with diagnosis too.
