Hi one of my chickens has a white scaly face and her feathers are disappearing. Her face is looking pale and she is not well (quiet, not scratching, not eating or drinking much, just wants to be on her own). I've tried powder for mites and garlic in the water but there has been no improvement. The other hens are fine. I've not seen any worms. Any suggestions would be welcome. We are in the U.K. So there are some treatments that we can buy over the counter.
She has been like this now for a couple of weeks.

That is Favus. It is contagious and it would be best to isolate your hen from the others. Apply miconazole cream to treat it until completely healed. It can be contagious to humans as well. Wear disposable gloves when applying the cream.

I forgot about favus :) Since scaly face mites and favus look similar, how did you tell the difference with these pictures? Asking so in the future I don't make that mistake again.

Favus is kind of white powdery looking with wrinkled crusts.
I've never seen scaly face mites on a chicken. After looking at images of scaly face mites on parrots etc.., I'd say it's a noticeable different between favus and scaly face mites, which is also the same as the scaly leg mite.

Thanks! When I was searching for scaly face mites I was getting stuff like this:

And for favus I was getting this:

So I wasn't sure :)

I've bought the miconazole and also ordered the ivermectin just in case. First treatment today so I'm hoping my poorly girl improves.
