We are finally starting to warm up here!! We are expected to be in the 40s today and tomorrow (ok, with a ice/snow mix starting tonight into commute time in the morning - oh well). My poor chickens have been cooped up for the last month because of our sub-zero temps. With such a cramped situation, most eggs are no longer fertile. But we have opened the door and have spread down hay so they will come out and walk around.
I'm getting anxious to hatch some eggs... now for my roosters to do their stuff and I'm hoping for a broody hen.. much easier than incubating and integration.
I take it all back about warming up, only had 2 days of decent weather... Right now it's only 4 degrees F out. I really am starting to hate thus polar vortex....
Less than a week and I set my eggs.... Was hoping for a broody hen, but no such luck, the incubator it will be!! Once my Cream Legbar eggs arrive in the mail I will let them rest a day and then place them along with my Olive eggers eggs (which are blue eggs at this time) into the incubator to hatch the week after Easter !!
