Hello! Deciding to get chickens is the easy part, but now is the question of how? Hatchery, breeder, feedstore?

When getting my chickens I did lots of research on where I wanted to get them from and it was relatively late in the season so I couldn't just go to my local feed store and get some chicks. I decided on a Hatchery for myself. I live in the New England region so it didn't want my chickens having to be shipped from far away. Ultimately I decided on Hoover's Hatchery.

Hoover's Hatchery Review:

Hoover's Hatchery has a wide selection of chick breeds wether they be meat birds, dual purpose birds, or layers. They also do sell ducks, turkey, and geese. They offer Mareks vaccinations, Cocci vaccinations, and beak trimming at checkout. They also have a 90% sexing gaurentee.

I bought 8 ISA Brown chicks and 7 chicks from a brown egg laying assortment. They said they would be shipped on July 5 and would arrive in 1-2 business days and that they did. My 15 chicks arrived at the post office on July 7 at 6 in the morning ( we weren't expecting that haha ) and they were all happy and healthy. Unfortunately 2 did die but that is a given with the shipping process. If 15 or more die they will give you a full refund or send you another flock and I believe you can get a small refund if less than 15 die. Please note that 15 is their minimum shipping requirement. Upon receiving your chicks, a copy of their vaccination record is supplied and you get a confirmation of purchase via email. My chicks are now 14-weeks, healthy, happy, and cutie-pies! I would definitely recommend Hoover's Hatchery!

Also, Hoover's Hatchery operates out of Idaho and supplied Tractor Supply with their chicks.
