Chicken hatching babies, when to seperate from rest of the coop?

  1. so as the subject says, my buff orp. is hatching out some Delaware's.. i made a separate coop for the mom and babies, but i don't know when to put them in there.. should i wait till the eggs hatch to move them into the other coop or should i move them while still in the eggs... so that way they are born in the separate coop till they are ready?

they should be coming sometime next week.. Wednesday of next week is there 21 day mark so they should be here next week/weekend..

I would find a way to move them, or make it to where the others can't get to the mom and babies. Even hens will kill the chicks.
  3. yeah i plan on moving them but when?

before they hatch or after they hatch?

I usually move broody hen and eggs into a large cage that I built at about 18-19 days, making sure to keep the eggs in the orientation that I find them. That has worked well for us.
