My two year old Buff Orphington, Sunshine, started staggering and falling down this afternoon, shortly after I let the birds out to free-range in my yard. I can't tell if she's walking in a drunken manner, like she's dizzy, or if she's just unable to bear weight on her left leg. She seems to be having a problem with the left leg and falls in that direction.
She laid a nice big normal-looking egg today, as she does every day this time of year, so can't be egg bound, I guess.
She's eating and drinking and pooping normally and seems happy and alert.
I have felt all over her legs and hips and everything feels normal as best I can tell. Someone said to check her hips and make sure they feel like they are both the same. I feel two "elbows" on either side of her vent, which I assume must be her hips, and they feel uniform on both sides. She's also plenty relaxed while I feel her all over her abdomen and legs-- doesn't act like anything causes her discomfort.
After checking her over, we put her in a cage inside the house with a towel over it and food and water in there.
I guess we will just see how she does. Any suggestions are welcome.: )
Thanks!
