Chicken hawk or Rooster?

I have two ladies that were injured with large gashes on their bodies under their wing. They are sewn up and doing well new but I am unsure if this is my young clumbsy beta rooster or if it was the chicken hawk that was pestering the flock last week. Any way to tell determine who caused the injuries?

If it were me I'd guess with two identical injuries that it was the rooster. But that'd be a guess.

Thanks. I am going to trim the beta roosters toe nails, as he is so young he does not have any spurse to speak of. But the hawk was persistant it got one layer a week ago and I chased it off twice with a banchee yell so loud I startled myself and my sweet alpha rooster almost jumped me. It did seem to scare the hawk away have not seen him for a few days now.
