Can anyone tell me if there is a good way to keep chicken hawks away? I've already had one of my roosters to come up missing and I'm assuming that it was a chicken hawk bc I have no signs of it left. I loved it. It was the brown one. And my brown roosters are my favorite.

We have a hay farm, not many places to hide for a chicken, and we also have many hawks and other predators. I only let my flock out when I can be around doing chores. Also in the evening there seems to be fewer hawks circling overhead. The rest of the time they are in a covered run. I am building a new (bigger) coop and run, and found an affordable well-reviewed netting from Amazon. I have a friend who has her chickens free range all the time - but she has a horse training facility with a covered arena and two loafing sheds plus trees and shrubs, all within a decent distance of each other. The chickens seem pretty intelligent about running for cover if there is anything overhead.

No feather sign strong indicator no hawk involved. Coyote or bobcat more likely, fox possible by usually one can expect at least some feather sign with the smaller predator.
