I have a cute little young Bronze hen who has been laying lots of eggs (1 every day to every other day) but has not decided to sit on her own eggs but my chickens have been going broody left and right so I stuck 5 turkey eggs under a chicken hen and because I am SO impatient I candled today (day 4 or so with a high powered flashlight in dark room) and I DID see veining!!! Honestly I wasn't expecting them to develop as I thought my Tom was, well, young and dumb and not figuring out his "job" yet. But I think I was wrong.
Anything I should keep in mind as these guys continue grow?
1. I know incubation is 28ish days
2. They need higher protein feed then chicks 26% right? (gotta look into finding some...)
3. They can be a little hard to get started
I have a free range situation currently and they will be with chickens and I am aware of blackhead risks with keeping chickens and turkeys together.
