Charlie is not acting weird by getting in the nesting boxes, he is a very good cock. A good cock will take good care and show affection to his hens. Preparing the nest boxes for hens or sitting on eggs is his way of showing how dedicated he is to the girls. I've only had one roo act this nice, I wish there were more.
