Interesting, and thank you for the information. I did not know this about them--I was just going by personal observation and experience.
Just to clarify though, I didn't mean to advocate that people go around swinging their chickens by the feet willy-nilly. I just think that if you are, say, working alone trying to carry four or five energetic chickens by yourself without having to make multiple trips across a four-acre farm in the rain (as I have found myself in that position before), it apparently hasn't done my chickens any real harm to be carried gently by their feet upon such occasions.
