Chicken "in your face" pictures!!

I had much more pleasant thoughts running through my mind while looking at that picture, but since you put it that way... my perspective on the picture sure has changed...

Haha, you guys are too funny!

Cheeka, last summer my cat's eye got infected to the point where we had to remove it! I have it in the back of my head that my chickens probably did it. Poor little guy.... It was such a miserable thing for him to go through.

aww, he's still a beauty, and it's amazing at how well they adapt, he's a lucky boy to have a devoted family!
I had a one-eyed-wonder-pug, he was a rescue, and if I (or someone else) didn't take him, he would most likely have lost his other eye, and then have been put down. His "family" wouldn't give him his medicine regularly and he would get out all the time and had been hit by a car... I had just moved to the area and had brought my pug to the vet to start a relationship for care, and he practically begged me to take this poor dog, so... I did. his meds were so harsh on his gut (eyedrops eventually run down the throat after all) and were giving him all kinds of other problems, so I put him on herbs. His tear production was well within normal range within 2 months and all his other problems cleared up. he was happy and eager to please, so he trained really easily... my neighbors who had 4 little kids, fell in love with him, so I gave him to them, he lived a great life...
all of my animals (except for my current Pug) are rescues, even my chickens. (someone ran over my previous Pug... driving like a bat outta hell on my backwoods dirt road... I was so heartbroken and there were no Pugs at the Pug Rescue Society within 150 miles, so my Dad got Ruby for me from a Nebraska breeder... when I went to Denver to visit for Easter, she was in my basket...)

What would animals do without people like us? Its very rewarding to take in an animal and/or help them when they are sick. I had to do those drops with my cat before it was removed and they were so painful for him that we didnt havent a choice :(

I am such a sucker for helping any animal, sometimes it is so stressful to try to make everything work out. I have so many animals because of this. 5 of my cats came from our humane society, the one above was in our field, our 3 collies came from a collie rescue, but my chickens were purchased (long story!) I have wanted to do rescue chickens so bad but the one in MN I contacted was very strict and had so many restrictions, I never went any further with it. I would love to find some battery ones to take in but havent heard of any or ran into it (which I suppose is a good thing) OH and I forgot, my 6 oranda fish were rescued from a nasty pet store.

These animals will be the death of me, I swear.

theacw, nah... they are the life blood of you... without you... ugh... I don't even want to think about where they might be or even IF they might be...
we have success with rescues because they are all just wanting a good and safe environment, but because folks like us go above and beyond and give all the love... they thrive, we thrive...
I "rescued" (read "stole") a severely neglected tortie kitty from the mean streets of Albany, NY. my friends rented the apt above where this cat "lived", her owner never let her inside, bc she was wiccan (sp?) and only allowed pure black cats to live inside. technically it was her sons cat. she would throw food out the window every three days or so and never gave her water. this cat managed to live at least 5 years in these conditions... so when I brought her to my property... "cat heaven", I thought she might not stay, she had survived the city, this was like the great hunting ground and she was an amazing hunter!
I knew with her camo coloring, she would have a good chance of survival on her own... and have told her every day for the last 10 years how grateful I am that she stayed because she wanted to be my little Min-Min. btw, it was a full week before the "witch" noticed the cat was missing, and just brushed her off as being hit by a car, didn't even look for her.
