We are going to the vet at 9:30 am tomorrow (for ref, posting this at nearly 8pm), and my chicken keeps squawking and not sleeping. She's inside and I've comforted her and nothing is working. The vet said she has some sort of respiratory infection, gave her antibiotics half a week ago, they work for 36 hours then the symptoms of squawking came back. What do I do until then?? We've tried so much the past week or two and nothing is working.

Have you tried putting her in a dark place? That might calm her??? I hope she feels better soon and that the vet can diagnose her illness.

She is currently in our laundry (very quiet) with the door open a smidge for fresh air with only a small tiny light which can be turned off. I haven't heard her do overly-massive squawks, just her usual minor sneezes and coughs so I may be working. Yes, I'm praying they diagnose her. No chicken should go through this. :(

Does she have any bubbles or foam in her eyes, or swelling of the eyelid? Is she sneezing? Does she have stridor? That is a loud wheezing sound they make when air comes in a goes out after getting a piece of feed stuck in the airway. Sometimes it can be a mucus plug or swelling in the airway. Usually it clears in a few hours. Is there any way you can upload a video to YouTube or Vimeo when she is making the sound? Watch the video here in post 1 to listen to strider and see if that is what yours is doing:

No foam, bubbles, or any sort of discharge at her beak or eyes. Looking at that video, no, she isn't stridoring. I've uploaded a video taken on Wednesday of the sound she makes. It's become more frequent. She hasn't done it the past 1-2 hours, I've only heard little sneezes but I believe she is resting and do not want to disturb her.

(Sorry for background noise like the dog)
