hey everyone
my chicken keeps on opening her mouth and shes sort of vibrating her throat or something so she like pulls it in and out repeatedly. and her tongue is also moving. and you can slightly hear her making a breathing noise whilst doing it and when I was close to her I could feel her breath. here's a video hopefully the link works :fl

it seemed like she was thirsty/ trying to cool herself down but it was really not hot and I gave her water but she still did that. Any ideas? If she is hot, how do I cool her down. Nothing helps, once shes off, she goes on for a good 10 minutes before stopping.

That just looks like panting because she is hot. Is it hot where you live or are you inside your house? Is there shade for her? In hot weather my chickens will cool their legs off in tepid water (never ice cold water.)

so sorry for the late reply I had like 3 projects due this week

it is not hot at all where I live (England). but I am inside my house. I thought it was because she was hot, but I certainly did not feel hot in the room.
maybe they're more sensitive.
thanks a lot for the reply :D

My hen was just panting which was because it was too hot for her.
Looks like your hen is doing the same thing. It was after I gave her a small bath and had blow-dried her so she was probably hot because of it.
Thank you for the reply! It didn't feel hot at all, but maybe she is extra sensitive because she is broody? I am glad your hen was okay!!!
