Hi! I have a 3 year old Barred Rock hen who is going downhill. I'd noticed her laying out in the run more the weekend before last weekend, and her tail being down, but over the week she has basically stopped walking at all now. I thought she was done for on the weekend, but she lives on! I've felt her up, I can't feel any egg-boundness going on, soft abdomen. She is alert, her colour is good, if I put water or treats in front of her she eats and drinks. Not sure about her poo as she hasn't been eating much I don't think, but it seems yellow-y green. No signs of lice or mites. No indication of injury. She can walk sort of if she has to, she somehow came out of the coop today as I found her laying in the run. I'm perplexed, as always. If anyone has ideas of what could be wrong, I appreciate it! (Her two coop mates seem perfectly healthy, laying and active with perfectly formed poos)

When was her last egg?

She may be suffering from a reproductive problem, it's hard to know.
If she's not laid and should have give 1 Calcium Citrate+D3 once daily for a few days to see if she expels any lash material or an egg.

Check her over for lice/mites and see that her crop is emptying.

If she's having a hard time getting about, make sure to see that she's getting to food and water, she needs to stay hydrated. Electrolytes can also be given for 1/2 a day, then switch to fresh water.

Thank you! I was reading about calcium citrate last night and plan to give that a try. I have been putting water and food right in front of her as much as I can (but when at work I can't) and she is definately drinking when I do. Last egg was probably a couple weeks ago now.
